Saturday, October 15th at 9:00AM Run the Dyslexia Dash with us! The PBIDA is holding a 5Km run/walk virtual race Pittsburgh New Church School will be running/walking together as a group at 8:30am on Saturday, October 15. Please join us for this great cause and get a little exercise! We will start here at the school and run/walk through Point Breeze. School year 2022 – 23 is fast approaching and we are doing preparations to make it the best year at PNCS ever! We are getting the classrooms ready with a fresh coat of paint this summer and the teachers are getting their curriculum books organized. All information about the upcoming school year will be sent out shortly to parents in the summer mailer. School starts in less than a month on Wednesday, August 24. Mark you calendars! The students did a fantastic job in their whole school performance of the musical, Charlie & the Chocolate Factory directed by teachers Kurt Riedel & Melissa Angelo. There were many live action stunts to include (Augustus Gloop falling into the chocolate, Violet Beauregarde turning into a blueberry, Veruca Salt falling down a nut shoot and Charlie & his grandpa floating in the fizzy lifting room) which the students made very engaging! Jared is the pastor of the Pittsburgh New Church, and he also serves as chaplain and religion teacher at the Pittsburgh New Church School (PNCS). He graduated with an M. Div. from the Bryn Athyn College of the New Church Theological School in 2015. For six years he worked as an assistant pastor at the Olivet New Church in Toronto, Canada, and then in 2021 he was called to Pittsburgh. Admissions Director, Dr. Joseph Nocera, has been appointed to the Pennsylvania Branch of the International Dyslexia Associations Board of Directors. Dr. Nocera will serve on the Board as Treasurer beginning in July. Nocera has over 23 years in K-12 and higher education and is entering his 3rd year at PNCS.
