This school has been an incredible discovery for our family. I’ve learned that I CAN get the excellent education I wanted for my child combined with the loving, fun atmosphere I dreamed of for him. The small, supportive atmosphere seems more like a family than a school. No child can learn well in a stressful environment, and here they do everything to make a child feel comforted. Then learning is a breeze! They have led my child to achievements that I knew he was capable of, all in the most supportive, beautiful environment you can imagine.

PNCS is a special place. You can feel the warmth as soon as you walk through the doors. The children are happy, engaged and valued by caring teachers who support and nurture them. My sons left PNCS with a greater sense of what they are capable of, and learned that they will not grow unless they are challenged themselves. The arts and music programs as well as the special classes at PNCS gave them the confidence and support to be their own person. It was truly a blessing to be part of the PNCS community.

“These kids are nice to each other,” my son exclaimed after he spent a day visiting Pittsburgh New Church School. “We didn’t sit around waiting for things to happen. Plus there’s more than one recess.” He was ready to switch schools at once.

I was drawn to the school’s atmosphere–the happy students, calm environment, and creative assignments decorating the bulletin boards. I was also impressed by what I learned about their curriculum, particularly the carefully crafted lessons that built students’ skills in composition and mathematics.

My son enrolled for middle school. For him, PNCS was a place he felt welcome, safe, and engaged by the learning process – all things that can’t be measured by standardized tests but are really important if a child is going to learn.
